Youth volunteers urged to be catalyst for security and development

Members of Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP) were commended for their human security initiatives and urged to be catalyst for security and development of the country.

The Minister of Local Government, Jean Claude Musabyimana made the remarks on Saturday, March 16, while addressing representatives of the youth group drawn from districts and sectors across the country, who convened in Kigali for a one day training.

The training aimed at enriching their understanding and active participation in fighting and preventing crimes, and to further drive the country's development.Read more

Truck drivers enlightened on community policing

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on March 13, held a one-day session on community policing for about 120 truck drivers, at the General Headquarters Kacyiru, to strengthen efforts in fighting and preventing crimes.

The cross-border truck drivers were encouraged to play their role in fighting crimes like smuggling, drug trafficking and human trafficking.

The session also focused on road safety, political and civic education, and patriotism. Read more

Police Senior Command and Staff Course students in internal study tour

Regional law enforcement officers attending the 12th intake of the Police Senior Command and Staff Course (PSCSC) at the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District, have commenced the internal study tour as part of their one year highest course.

The one week study tour commenced on Monday, March 11, under the theme: “Fostering crime prevention through community policing structures.”

The ongoing academic programme is attended by 34 law enforcement officers from nine African countries, namely; Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Rwanda.Read more

ROAD SAFETY: RNP hold meeting with heads of taxi-moto cooperatives

Rwanda National Police (RNP) held a meeting with heads of taxi-moto cooperatives, on Friday, March 15, as part of the ongoing Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign to address pressing issues contributing to road carnage.

Taxi-moto operators are some of the leading causes of road accidents.

Out of 89 road accidents registered between January and February this year, 16 of them were caused by reckless taxi-moto operators. This resulted into 19 fatalities, including 10 taxi-moto operators, six passengers and three pedestrians. Read more

Dove School Saint Jean Chrysostome pupils visit Rwanda National Police

On Thursday, March 14, about 90 pupils of Dove School Saint Jean Chrysostome led by their teaching staff, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) Headquarters in Kacyiru to learn more about community policing.

At the General Headquarters, they visited the departments of Community Policing, Command and Coordination Centre (CCC) where CCTV cameras are controlled, and Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB).Read more
