DIGP Namuhoranye attends Police Cadet graduation in Qatar

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Felix Namuhoranye was in Qatar on an official visit, where he attended the graduation ceremony for the Police Cadet on Thursday, February 2.

DIGP Namuhoranye is in Qatar at the invitation of the Director General of Public Security of Qatar, Lt Gen. Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi.

The colourful graduation of over 100 Police officers, who completed a four-year cadet course at Qatar Police College, was presided over by the His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al Thani, the Emir of Qatar

DIGP Namuhoranye also held a meeting with Lt. Gen. Khulaifi and discussed, among others, matters related to cooperation between Rwanda and Qatar Police forces, especially in areas of capacity development.Read more

You have a mission to fulfill in development, youth volunteers told

Members of the national committee and district coordinators of Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP) met at Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru on Friday, February 3, to lay further strategies to support the national security and development activities.

The youth, among others, discussed the role of their organization in community policing and working relations with the District Police Units and local leaders.

While officially opening the meeting, Commissioner of Police (CP) Bruce Munyambo, the Commissioner for Community Policing at the RNP, said that every generation must fulfill its mission to sustain and continue to build on what has been achieved.Read more

Gerayo Amahoro campaign turns to truck drivers

The countrywide Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign entered week nine with focus shifting to truck drivers.

On Friday, February 3, Police met with truck drivers at different sites in Kigali and in other parts of the country to mitigate accidents largely resulting from reckless driving behaviors. Read more

Private security service providers were called upon to aim for quality services rather than prioritizing financial gains.

Anti-Narcotics Unit arrest suspected drug dealer in Rulindo

On Friday, February 3, the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) arrested one Alexandre Mbarushimana, 21, in Rulindo District after he was found in possession of 10kgs of cannabis.

Mbarushimana was at the time going to supply his clients when he was intercepted in Cyasuri Village, Sayo Cell in Kisaro Sector. Read more

BURERA: Smuggler intercepted with 61000 pieces of polythene bags

On Wednesday, February 1, Police in Burera District intercepted one Emmanuel Nsekuye, 36, with over 61000 pieces of the outlawed non-biodegradable plastic bags.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Alex Ndayisenga, the Northern Region Political and Civic Education Officer (RPCEO) said that Police officers on duty intercepted Nsekuye in Kidakama Cell, Gahunga Sector at about 6:30pm. Read more
