COVID-19: Public ownership the best remedy

Increased public education and awareness on the COVID-19 prevention measures and individual responsiveness has played an important part in influencing positive practices and facilitating the government to effectively respond and combat the pandemic.

This was observed during the government press conference on Friday, October 2, which gave updates on the current situation as far as fighting COVID-19 and resumption of businesses in the country is concerned.

The press conference was held at Kigali Convention Centre (KCC) and brought together the ministries of Health, Local Government, Education, Trade and Industry as well as Rwanda National Police. Read more

Three arrested for alleged vandalism of public infrastructure


Police in City of Kigali arrested three traders said to be part of the ring that vandalise and steal electricity and broadband cables along Kicukiro-Bugesera Airport road, which is under construction and expansion.

They were arrested separately following complaints by the Chinese firm--China Road and Bridge Corporation--which is constructing the road. Read more

Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign resumes


The national road safety campaign dubbed 'Gerayo Amahoro' was resumed on Friday, September 30, when Traffic Police officers reminded motorists to avoid violations that may result into accidents.

The campaign resumed on the roads of City of Kigali and will be extended to all parts of the country.

Gerayo amahoro campaign was first launched on May 13, 2019, but was halted on the 46th week when COVID-19 broke out in the country. Read more

Anti-Narcotics Unit arrest kanyanga dealer in Nyagatare


The Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) arrested one Venuste Habiyambere, 30, in Nyagatare District in connection with trafficking and distributing Kanyanga, a gin classified as 'psychotropic substance' in Rwanda.

Habiyambere was arrested on Wednesday, September 30, in Nyabitekeri cell of Tabagwe sector with 100 litres of kanyanga.

ANU is a Rwanda National Police (RNP) unit charged with fighting narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Read more
