RNP honors retiring Police officers

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Friday, September 29, held a send-off ceremony in honor of its former Police Chief, commissioners, senior and other Police officers, who have retired from active service.

The farewell ceremony for the 112 retirees held at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, was presided over by the Minister of Interior, Alfred Gasana, who lauded their dedication, commitment and sacrifice to serve their country.Read more

Rwanda National Police holds 12th women convention

The 12th 'Women Police Convention' opened on Wednesday, September 27, at the Rwanda National Police (RNP), Kacyiru as female officers from different departments and units of the force reflects on gender related matters in policing.

It was held under the theme: "Breaking barriers towards gender equality in professional policing."

The convention provides a platform for the RNP leadership and senior government officials to engage female Police officers in matters pertaining their policing duties, achievements, challenges and way forward towards gender promotion and accomplishment of their tasks. Read more

DIGP Sano visits Northern region Police units, calls for strengthened road safety campaign

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Vincent Sano, on Saturday, September 30, visited various Police units in the Northern region where he urged officers to strengthen road safety awareness campaign.

This, he said, will further influence positive human behaviours on safer road usage and ultimately instill a road safety culture.Read more

Police, utility bodies up against vandalism of distribution lines

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Thursday, September 28, held a meeting with Rwanda Energy Group (REG), Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC) to draw measures against the rising cases of vandalism and theft of utility equipment from transmission and distribution lines.

The meeting held at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, was chaired by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Felix Namuhoranye, reviewed the status of vandalism and response measures. Read more

35 Police officers complete instructional technology course

Thirty-five Police officers completed the 7th intake of the Instructional Technology Course (ITC) at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari, on Friday, September 29.

The 12-week training is one of the courses designed to develop qualified trainers able to carry out job analysis for training, design courses, conduct and evaluate courses.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, while officially closing the course, said that training is a priority of Rwanda National Police.Read more

UN decorates Rwandan Police peacekeepers in South Sudan for service excellence

The United Nations, on Wednesday, September 27, decorated 174 Rwandan Police peacekeepers serving in its mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), with the 'UN Service Medal' in recognition of their dedication and sacrifice to ensure peace and security in South Sudan.

The officers decorated include 160 of female-dominated Rwanda Formed Police Unit Three rotation five (RWAFPU3-5) operating in the capital Juba; 13 Individual Police Officers (IPOs) and UNMISS Police Chief of Operations, Commissioner of Police (CP) Felly Bahizi Rutagerura.Read more

EAPCCO gender sub-committee validates women Police network constitution

A two-day meeting for the gender sub-committee of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) opened on Thursday, September 28, at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters, Kacyiru to validate the Women Police Network (WPN) draft strategic plan and its constitution.

The meeting brought together legal experts and gender sub-committees from the 14-member bloc.

The strategy and constitution were drafted as key instruments in the establishment and implementation of the regional Women Police Network.Read more

Fire safety training extended to artisans

It prevents risky practices that could ignite fire and impart skills that are used to limit the spread and impact of a fire.

On Tuesday, September 26, fire safety training was extended to 458 artisans and workers at KORA, an integrated craft production centre in Nyarugenge District.

It was facilitated by experts from the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB). It also involved fire safety inspection of their facilities. Read more
