Over 2,000 youth complete rehabilitation at Iwawa Rehabilitation Centre

A total of 2,001 youth on Saturday, August 1, completed more than a year of rehabilitation at Iwawa Rehabilitation Centre in Rutsiro District, where they underwent behavioural change programmes and vocational training to prepare for reintegration into their families and communities.

The youth had previously been involved in activities that undermined public safety and community wellbeing, including violence, vagrancy, theft and drug abuse. At the centre, they received civic education and training in Rwandan values, discipline and integrity, alongside practical skills in carpentry, masonry, mechanics, modern agriculture and tailoring, as well as road safety and driving.

The closing ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Local Government, Dominique Habimana, alongside the Inspector General of Police (IGP) CG Felix Namuhoranye, the Director General of the National Rehabilitation Service (NRS), Fred Mufulukye, Western Province Governor Jean Bosco Ntibitura and other officials. Read More...

Rwanda National Police assures safety and security at Rwanda International Trade Fair

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) has assured exhibitors and visitors at the 29th Rwanda International Trade Fair (RITF 2026) of a safe and secure environment, while calling for their cooperation in maintaining public safety throughout the event.
RNP spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boniface Rutikanga, who represented the RNP leadership at the official opening, gave the assurance on Saturday, August 1, during a press conference held at the PSF Gikondo Expo Grounds in Kicukiro District.

The press conference was chaired by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Antoine Kajangwe, and attended by representatives of the private sector, security organs, exhibitors and other partners.  Read More...

Kigali: DIGP Sano urges youth volunteers to champion the fight against illicit brews and drugs

The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Commissioner of Police (CP) Vincent Sano, on Friday, July 31, urged about 500 youth volunteers from across Kigali City to champion the fight against drug abuse, illicit brews and substandard alcoholic beverages, particularly among young people.

The call was made during the annual General Assembly of Kigali youth volunteers held at the Gasabo District Conference Hall, which brought together the volunteers, Kigali City Mayor Samuel Dusengiyumva and other officials.

CP Sano urged the volunteers to educate communities about the dangers of drug abuse and illicit brews, help young people who have dropped out of school to return, and contribute to protecting families from their harmful effects.  Read More...

Two Rwandan police officers complete advanced course in Italy

Two Rwanda National Police (RNP) officers on Tuesday, July 28, completed a two-year Advanced Course (Applicativo Biennale) at the Carabinieri Officers' School (Scuola Ufficiali Carabinieri) in Rome, Italy.

Inspector of Police (IP) Caleb Turatsinze and Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Ezechiel Ntirenganya, are part of the seventh intake, which covered law, investigations and professional sciences.  

The graduation ceremony was presided over by Lt Gen Marco Minicucci, Commander of the Carabinieri Training Schools, and attended by Rwanda's Honorary Consul in Rome, Enrico Lalia Morra.  Read More...
