Police recovers over Frw4 million stolen from British national

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) recovered Frw4,110,000, which was recently stolen from a British national after thieves broken into her vehicle in Kigali Downtown.

The money was recovered from two suspected thieves, both in their early twenties, who were also taken into custody.

The money was on Saturday, April 15, handed over to the victim, Walker Jemrose Leanora, the head of Young Citizens of Rwanda, a charity organization that supports vulnerable youth and children.  Read more...

Police in operations against theft


Rwanda National Police (RNP) reassured the public of their safety against theft amid increased operations to arrest people suspected to be engaged in these criminal activities.

Cases of theft, sometimes violent, including house break-ins, pick-pocketing, snatching people's belongings and ambushing people during wee hours, have been reported in different parts of the country.
 
The RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said that operations against theft have been strengthened, and that some of those connected to these criminal activities have been arrested.  Read more...

MINUSCA: Rwandan Police peacekeepers in Bangassou commemorate the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi


Rwandan Police peacekeepers deployed in Bangassou under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Central Africa Republic (MINUSCA) were on Monday, April 10, joined by other peacekeepers, MINUSCA and government officials to mark the 29th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The commemoration was marked with lighting of candles of hope and observed a one minute of silence to pay respect to more than one million innocent lives massacred during the 100 days.  Read more...

Rwanda National Police (RNP) seized assorted smuggled wines and liquors in City of Kigali, and arrested three people in connection with the act.

A vehicle and motorcycle, which were being used to transport the liquors were also impounded during the operation conducted by the department of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (ASOC), on Monday, April 10, at Kinamba, Kacyiru Sector of Gasabo District.

The seized goods include 30 boxes of Drostdy wine and 112 bottles of assorted spirits including Jameson, Remy Martin, Veuve, Baileys, Tequilas and Hennessy.  Read more...
