Rwanda National Police in tree planting drive
Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Thursday, December 10, launched a tree planting exercise to supplement the national environmental protection programme.
The planting of trees, which started in Kamonyi and Rubavu districts, will continue to other parts of the country.
The environmental protection activities also include connecting villages that are far from the national grid, with solar power systems as well as constructing terraces and water channels to fight soil erosion. Read more
Rwanda National Police connects 785 households with solar energy
Rwanda National Police (RNP) lit 785 households in four villages in Nyagatare, Burera, Gicumbi and Musanze districts, with solar energy.
The official handover of the solar power systems was held concurrently on Saturday, December 12.
It is part of the RNP environmental protection efforts, which also saw about 8200 trees, including fruits, planted on the same day in Nyagatare (4100), Gatsibo (3000), Rwamagana (600) and Musanze (500) districts. Read more
Rwanda National Police give assurances of safety during Expo 2020
Rwanda National Police (RNP) assured the general public of their safety and security during the upcoming International Trade Fair—Expo 2020.
The 23rd Rwanda Trade Fair will be held at Gikondo Expo ground between December 11-31.
While speaking at the press conference that brought together different Expo organizers and players, on Wednesday, December 9, RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said that the force is working closely with the organizers and other relevant institutions to ensure security and safety for the exhibitors, their goods and visitors. Female Police officers enlightened on peacekeeping duties ahead of deployment
One-hundred female Police officers set to be deployed for the UN peacekeeping duties as Individual Police Officers (IPOs), were on Friday, December 11, urged to uphold discipline and other Rwandan values required on them while on mission.
This was during a one-day workshop for female Police Officers in preparation for the UN mission held at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru.
Participants include those who either passed the UN selection test and are cleared for deployment or passed the first level of the test. Read more
UN team assess RNP peacekeeping readiness
A delegation from the United Nations was in the country for a ten-day visit to assess the Rwanda National Police (RNP) peacekeeping capabilities as the force prepares to deploy more peacekeepers.
The Formed Police Unit (FPU) Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV) started on Monday, December 7, at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru where the UN team inspected and assessed the force’s Contingent Owned Equipment (CoE). Read more
Rubavu: Anti-Narcotics Unit arrest three suspected drug dealers
The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) arrested three people in Rubavu District suspected to be major drug dealers.
The trio; Laurent Ntakamaro, 59, Clenie Nyiransabimana, 36, and Aline Icyimanizanye, 30, were arrested on December 9, in Gisenyi and Rubavu sectors with combined 5504 pellets of cannabis. Read more
Nyarugenge: Restaurants closed for disregarding directives against COVID-19
Four restaurants and bars in Kimisagara Sector of Nyarugenge District were, on Monday, December7, closed after they were found operating contrary to the national safety guidelines meant to prevent further spread of the COVID-19.
This was during the ongoing inspection by local authorities in City of Kigali and Police to assess how various services are operating in compliance with the directives.
The closed restaurants and bars are among the eight hospitality establishments operating in Amashyirahamwe building, which were penalized for undermining the health and safety directives against the pandemic. Read more
Nyagatare: Over 40 believers caught violating COVID-19 directives
Forty-six believers were, on December 6, caught in a house in Nyagatare District, Matimba Sector holding an illegal gathering.
The gathering was contrary to the national directives meant to prevent further spread of the COVID-19.
The violators were found gathered in the house of one Jean Pierre Musilikali located in Rwentanga Cell, praying. Read more
