The Rwanda National Police today joined residents of Kacyiru sector in Gasabo district in a monthly community work – Umuganda.
Residents of Gasaro, Uwributso, Inkingi, Kamutwa and Amahoro cells in Kacyiru were joined by Police officers operating at the headquarters in Kacyiru to clear shrubs around Kacyiru II primary school.
In a meeting, shortly after the community exercise, the residents discussed various issues related to community development and ensuring security.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Jean Bosco Kabera, Commissioner for Communication Information Technology in Rwanda National Police urged them to always value and participate in Umuganda, which he said is one of the development initiatives and promotes hygiene.
He appealed to them to always use such platform to discuss on things that can develop them and how better they can reinforce security in their communities.
CP Kabera asked them to always fight and report people involved in illegal acts such as drug dealers.
Vedaste Nsabimana, the sector executive secretary thanked the Rwanda National Police for the support joining them in the community exercise and for its continued human security programmes to help the vulnerable and to eradicate poverty in general.
Early this year, the force donated Rwf1 million to commercial motorcycle operators in Musanze District and last year, the force gave out five cows to poor families, paid medical insurance for 500 families and distributed other 500 mosquito nets.
