RNP clarification on the ‘false’ story published in Chimpreports

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) would like to clarify on the “false and misleading” story titled “Rwanda Police Traffic Boss Sacked” authored by one Edison Akugizibwe and currently trending on ‘Chimpreports.com,’ an online media publication.

In its introduction, the author indicates that the ‘Commander of the Police Traffic department’ is Jean Marie Vianney Ndushabandi and that he was sacked by President Paul Kagame.

This information is not factual and is misleading.

First of all, Supt. Jean Marie Vianney Ndushabandi was the Spokesperson for the Traffic and Road Safety Department but not its Commissioner or Commander as they put it. He was also “not sacked” as this online publication alleges.

Supt. Ndushabandi was replaced as spokesperson for the Traffic and Road Safety Department two weeks ago to go for further studies at the Rwanda National Police College in Musanze District, where he will join other senior Rwandan and regional Police officers in the third intake of the ‘Senior Command and Staff Course,’ the highest course in Police studies.
