RNP assures smooth elections

Rwanda National Police (RNP) has committed personnel and material resources to ensure smooth and incident-free referendum elections.

Police spokesperson, ACP Celestin Twahirwa said polling sites have been secured and that the force has escorted and secured electoral materials to polling stations and will escort them back to the National Electoral Commission (NEC) headquarters.

"We are working jointly with other security organs, NEC,  local authorities and other relevant government institutions to ensure the election process goes as planned and unhindered," ACP Twahirwa said.‎

"We urge the public to continue their partnership and be law abiding during the entire election process."

In case anyone experiences or notice anything unusual, he appealed to them to share timely information with police to prevent any consequences this might bring along.

"This security plan covers the entire festive season, CHAN tournament and other scheduled elections of local leaders," he said.
