Residents urged to participate in anti-crime initiatives

Citizens must strengthen their efforts aimed at fighting crimes in their communities as well as continue working with security organs through the element of community policing in order to create lasting peace.

The message was delivered by the Mayor of Kamonyi District, Jacques Rutsinga, during a meeting with residents in Ruyenga Sector.

“Criminals are thinking everyday about how to commit their crimes without being arrested; therefore, we should also increase our efforts in ensuring that they do not cause harm to our nation, the people and property,” he said.

“You must work with Police and other security agencies, by providing them with relevant and timely information in case you suspect any activity or individual that might be a criminal.”

Present at the meeting was Inspector of Police (IP), Celestin Haguma, who challenged the residents on strengthening their night patrols that have been very helpful in maintaining security and safety in communities.

“Keep up the good work you are doing through community policing, and advise the youth to concentrate on building their lives through education and entrepreneurship rather than engaging in drug abuse and criminal activities,” he said.
