The 9th edition of Tour Du Rwanda kicks off today November 12, and will end November 19. As usual, the Rwanda National Police (RNP) department of traffic and road safety will offer escort services to the riders throughout the 819km race across the country.
“Tour Du Rwanda attracts much excitement especially at arrival points and even along the axis. We appeal for compliance and cooperation from spectators to keep reasonable distance from the road, for their safety but also to facilitate riders and ensure an incident-free competition,” Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Emmanuel Kabanda, the spokesperson for traffic and road safety, said.
Routes
The race will kick off with prologue around City of Kigali on Sunday, November 12 at 11am to 12:25pm covering a distance of 3.3km from, Amahoro stadium exit gate above CSS- KIE- Engine petrol station near le Printemp-MIC- Sport view hotel-main gate and end at Amahoro Stadium.
On 13 Nov 17: Kacyiru bus terminal-USA Embassy-RNP HQs-Kinamba-Yamaha-Nyabugogo-Giticyinyoni-Ruliba-Muhanga-Ruhango-Nyanza-Huye.
On 14 Nov 17: Nyanza-Ruhango-Muhanga-Ngororero-Kabaya-Mukamira-Jenda-Bigogwe-Mahoko
-Rubavu.
On 15 Nov 17: Rubavu-Nyabihu-Musanze.
On 16 Nov 17: Musanze-Gakenke-Rurindo-Shyorongi-Giticyinyoni-Nyabugogo-poids lourd-Rwandex-Kicukiro-Centre-Gahanga-Nyamata.
On 17 Nov 17:Nyamata-Gahanga-Kicukiro Centre-Sonatube-Prince house-kabuga-Rwamagana.
On 18 Nov 17: Kayonza-Rwamagana Hospital-Byimana-Nyagasambu-Kabuga-Kigali parents-Kimironko-Kibagabaga-Kabuga ka Nyarutarama-Kagugu-ULK-KGM- Kinamba-Yamaha-Nyabugogo-Kimisagara-Kwa Mutwe-Biryogo-Nyamirambo stadium.
On 19 Nov 17 (10 rounds race): Amahoro stadium main gate- MIC- Kimironko- Kibagabaga- Kabuga ka Nyarutarama-MTN Center-RDB-KVCS-Airtel- Amahoro stadium.
“During this time, these routes will be busy and we urge motorists to use alternative routes. Don't liter the roads because it can cause an accident. Let's keep the roads safe and clean for the safety of the riders,” CIP Kabanda said.
