The Rwanda National Police Handball club has moved closer to lifting the national league trophy after beating Rubavu-based boys of Groupe Scolaire Rambura 39-29 in a match played on July 19 at the latter's campus.
With Gilbert Mutuyimana's 14-highest individual score, the win put the law enforcers in the lead with 33 maximum points, 12 ahead of the second placed and reigning champions, Gicumbi.
With just five matches left to the close of the league, Police Handball club needs only two wins to win it for the third time in just four seasons and the fourth trophy in just one season.
They are Labour Day, Genocide Memorial and Liberation champions.
"I am happy with the performance and I have faith in the team; we want to win it in style...without losing a match and that's what the team is striving for," Police Coach AIP Antoine Ntabanganyimana, said.
