Police in Karongi District conducted a special community work on June 12 to lay bricks to rehabilitate three houses for vulnerable families in Rubengera sector.
The beneficiaries are those whose houses were destroyed by the recent heavy downpour.
The District Police Commander, Supt Dieudonné Rwangombwa said the act was part of the ongoing Police and liberation 14th and 20th anniversaries to support government development programmes especially by supporting poor families.
The exercise also joined residents of Rwankuba sector to clear shrubs in a forest in Nyarusange cell.
Supt. Rwangombwa said the bushes used to be a hideout for wrongdoers such as theives.
“This is both a hygienic and security act," he said.
He appealed to the residents to have a helping hand and be active in crime prevention.
One of the house beneficiaries, Adeline Mukansanga has been sheltering at neighbour's.
Mukansanga, 60, thanked RNP for the support to get her shelter.
