Police starts countrywide tour to harness traffic services

The Rwanda National Police Traffic and Road Safety  department has started a countrywide tour to explain to the public on how to access all traffic services from their nearest Police offices and online.

The exercise is aimed at improving service delivery.

The exercise started on Monday in Nyagatare and Gatsibo districts where the traffic department also gave out over 70 driving licence to owner in the area who passed their practical tests recently.

Supt. Jean Marie Ndushabandi, spokesperson traffic department observed that most candidates after passing either provisional or practical driving test don't follow up to register for the production of their licence or to collect them.

He further reminded those who pass tests to always register to get their licence in time.

He also appealed to all those seeking traffic services to always go to their nearest police offices instead of commuting to Kigali.

"Most of the traffic services can actually be accessed at all District Police Units and there is no need of wasting your time and money going to Kigali," Ndushabandi told the residents.

Some candidates in the countryside who pass their tests travel to Kigali to either register for the production of their permit or to collect it.

Currently, the registration to sit for either provisional or definitive tests is done online using personal mobile phone.

The licence is also sent to the district where the candidate sat the exams from.

Supt. Ndushabandi also reminded those whose who misplaced their driving licence or encountered other challenges to always approach Police in areas where they sat the tests from for all the assistance required.

He appealed to applicants to always provide right particulars to avoid likely delays in the production of a licence.

Normally, particulars should correspond with the one on the national identity card.
