Police set for Carré d’AS handball tourney

This year’s Carré d’AS handball tourney will be held this Saturday at Kimisagara youth centre ground and favourates, Police handball club believes they have all it takes to write history by making sure that all the trophies this season end up in their cabin.

Only the best four clubs in the national league take part in this tournament.

Police, which won the league for the third time in the last four seasons, will face Kigoma, who finished third while runners up, APR will take on Gicumbi that finished fourth.

The winners of the two games will meet in the final.

Should they win this tournament, it will be Police’s fifth trophy in their cabin this season having also won Labour Day, Memorial and Liberation cups.

Police won the 2012 edition after beating APR in the final, however the tournament was not organised last year due to financial constraints.

Police handball club coach Assistant Inspector of Police Antoine Ntabanganyimana said players are “aware of what is required to be the first club to win all competitions in one season.”

Ferwahand Secretary General, Jean Paul Ngarambe said he expects competitive games.

This is the fourth time the tournament is being held. APR won the inaugural tournament in 2009, while Police dominated the last two editions
