Police round-up suspected wrongdoers in Bugesera

Police in Bugesera district has arrested 35 people suspected to be behind various criminal acts in Kigali and Bugesera.

The suspects include drug dealers and consumers, illicit brew distillers and thieves and those found without identifications.

They were apprehended on Saturday in a Police targeted operation conducted Nyamata sector.

The operation aimed at cracking down on suspected wrongdoers and to reinforce security in the area.

The Eastern region Police Spokesperson, Senior Supt. Benoit Nsengiyumva said they had information on the illegal acts some of the suspects were involved in.

“These are routine targeted operations to apprehend wrongdoers and to further reinforce security in the country,” SSP Nsengiyumva said.

“Those arrested are believed to be involved in various illegal acts like theft, drug dealing, and assault,” he added.

Those found without identifications, he added, have been taken to Gashora Transit centre for screening.

He appealed to the general public to always move with their identifications to facilitate security organs identify suspected criminals.

He urged the public to enhance community patrols and to continue providing timely information on people involved in illegal activities so that they are arrested.
