Police Handball Club has successfully defended the '2022 Beach Handball Cup' after overcoming Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle 2-0 in the finals played on Sunday, January 8, on Kivu beach in Gisenyi, Rubavu District.
The law enforcers booked their ticket in the finals after seeing off E.S Kigoma 11-10 on penalties after a one-all draw in the semi-finals played earlier on Sunday.
Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle eased through to the finals after defeating Tengo HC in the semis.
Police HC coach, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Antoine Ntabanganyimana lauded the winning spirit of his players.
"We came with the mission to win every game and to defend the Beach Handball Cup, and we did that because of morale, commitment and teamwork. We thank the Rwanda National Police leadership that supports us to be the best," said CIP Ntabanganyimana
The most successful handball club in Rwanda, Police HC, won the inaugural beach tournament in 2015, 2017, 2019 and in 2021.
