Police recovers stolen motorcycle

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) on September 10, recovered a motorcycle which was stolen on the 24th of August 2014 from Bugesera district
Nyandwi Pierre 23, a resident of Shyara sector in Bugesera, was also arrested in connection with the theft.

The motorcycle registration number RB 638C TVS type was recovered in Burundi where the suspect had taken it for sell.

The District Police Commander (DPC), Superintendent of Police (SP) Victor Vandama, said the motorcycle was recovered after investigations by both Rwanda and Burundi Police forces.

"We received information on the 24th from the owner that his motorcycle had been stolen and that robber could have crossed to Burundi to find its market,” SP Victor Vandama said.

"We immediately informed Burundi Police who begun to search for it and the following day we were informed that the motorcycle had been recovered and the suspect arrested," he added.

The motorcycle was handed over to the owner Havugimana Manassé 24, who thanked Rwanda National Police for recovering it.

“I am  very grateful for the good work by Rwanda Police and urge all people to always rush to report their stolen equipment to Police in time, because it also helps them (Police) to intervene in time,” Havugimana said

He explained that the motorcycle was stolen in Nyamata trading center, where he had gone to meet a fellow businessman and I immediately reported the matter to the police


The suspect is currently detained at Nyamata Police Station.
