At the time of his arrest, the suspect was found with Rwf106, 500 while another Rwf2.3 million was recovered from his bank account in Bank Populaire.

It is alleged that the suspect stole the money from the vehicle after duplicating the car key.

“I locked the car and told him [Nsabimana] to wash only the outer part, but I was shocked when I came out and I couldn’t see him and the money missing,” the victim, names withheld, said.

“I immediately informed Police and I am happy that they recovered my money,” she added.

Supt. Modeste Mbabazi, Police spokesperson for central region appealed to the public and the business community in particular not to move with such big sums of money and always hide their banking tools like Visa cards and cheque books to avoid such theft risks.
