Inspector of Police (IP), Claver Kayihura, Muhanga District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) has reconciled twenty-eight couples in Kabacuzi sector that had for years faced domestic conflicts
Among the reconciled couples is one Vedaste Seminani, 43, who was being accused by his wife, Jeanne Umugwaneza of ignoring his family responsibilities and spending the family incomes on alcohol.
Seminani, in his testimony, narrated how catering for his family needs seemed none of his duties and couldn’t even join the family in developmental and agricultural activities in particular.
“I used to spend the little money I could earn on drinking even when there is nothing to eat at home, and at times I would assault my wife if she dared to accuse me of neglecting my duties,” Seminani narrated.
He begged his family and wife forgiveness and pledged to revise his domestic conduct and assume his family roles.
His wife Umugwaneza said: “Though my husband acted irresponsibly I have forgiven him. I thank Rwanda National Police (RNP) for taking the initiative to re-unite us and to save our families from falling apart. Today is a new beginning for my family.”
Laurent Rurangwa, the Executive Secretary of Kabacuzi, lauded RNP for the action which he labeled as key pillar to ensuring peace and security in families and communities.
He also urged the couples to desist from taking justice into their own hands instead approached organs concerned for justice.
Inspector of Police (IP), Claver Kayihura,District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), said domestic wrangles are mostly fueled by drugs abuse.
