Police reconciles 12 families in Rulindo

Police in Rulindo district on October 7 reconciled and reunited twelve families in Rusiga  sector that had either separated or having domestic disputes.

According to Assistant Inspector of Police Emmanuel Dusengimana, Rulindo District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), said majority conflicts were caused by property, drunkenness and the traditional character of men who dictate terms over their spouses and sell or misuse family property.

AIP Dusengimana urged them to learn from the past bad experience, put everything behind them and open a new chapter focusing on what is good for their respective families rather than individual selfish ends.

He also warned them against drug abuse and excessive drinking in particular, which is tearing families apart.

Jean Bosco Munyeragwe, one of the couples, said, “Wrangles are over within my family. We have started a new life, a conflict-free one.”

The 37-year old father of three said, the wrangles within his family were based on misuse of family property blaming himself of spending the hard-earned money on alcohol.

“I had failed my family, I must say,” says Munyeragwe.

Telesphore Uwamahoro, Rusiga sector Executive Secretary also appealed to families to live in harmony and report other families that could be facing similar challenges so that they can be helped.
