Police officers undergo ‘Guard and Protection’ course

A total of 83 Police officers, on September 29, started a three-month ‘guard and protection’ course at Gashora Training School in Bugesera District as Rwanda National Police continues to professionalise its force and to be ahead of crimes largely facilitated by globalization.

The training, the first of its kind, will see the officers trained in counter terrorism, first aid, VIP protection and map reading.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Emmanuel K. Gasana, speaking at the official launch, asked participants to take the course “seriously”  and strive to acquire knowledge and skills to enable them professionally fulfill their guard and protection duties.

He urged them to be characterized by discipline and teamwork.

Rwanda, he observed, is experiencing rapid development which requires highly skilled officers to be able to address emerging security challenges that comes with development.
