A contingent of thirty-three Police officers returned from a one year peacekeeping duty under the United Nations African Union Hybrid Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), yesterday.
The officers were received by the Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana at the force's headquarters in Kacyiru.
The Police Chief thanked them for representing their country with patriotism and dignity, which he said portrays the good image of RNP and the country in general, at the international level.
He also briefed them on various development areas of the force and the country in general but added that the development of technology has also ushered in new policing challenges which are cross-border in nature like terrorism and human trafficking.
"The country is developing fast and that's why the Rwanda National Police has embarked on training as a resourceful tool to giving officers skills and knowledge to combat and investigate such arising policing challenges that come with the level of development," IGP Gasana said.
He appealed to them to use the skills they acquired and work hard for the good of the force and the country in general.
He also wished them good luck in their new assignments.
During their one year mission, the officers helped to monitor and mentor the local police and to support in humanitarian activities, among others.
