The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Emmanuel K. Gasana has challenged Police officers to be driven by professionalism in their policing tasks.
The Police Chief made the call on August 11 while briefing Police officers who recently completed the 'Senior Command and Staff' course at the National Police College in Musanze District, Unit Training at the Police Training School in Gishari, Rwamagana district and those that returned from UN peacekeeping missions.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda and other senior Police officers.
IGP Gasana told the officers that the just concluded courses fall under the force’s bigger framework to equip officers with knowledge and skills in various policing disciplines so as to accomplish their assignments effectively.
He urged them to be innovative and be result-focused and change-driven adding that training to build the capacity and capabilities of the force is among its priorities.
The Police Chief further appealed to them to uphold the RNP norms and values, laws and mission and vision, be disciplined, avoid things like corruption which tarnish their image and that of the force.
“Job is like a life brand. Your duty protects you,” IGP Gasana observed.
