Police FC clinched the Peace Cup with a deserved win over local rivals Rayon Sports FC on July 04.
The intense march was played at a full capacity Amahoro Stadium.
Police Coach Andreas Mbugo claimed tactical prowess throughout the game, especially in the defense where Police FC showed focus and timely defending which laid off a good platform for several counter attacks.
Cassa Mbungo made a substitution in the 25th minute taking off Mpozembizi Mohammed, who had been given a yellow card and brought on Mugabo Gabriel, who helped to close gaps that looked weak.
In the second half of the match Police FC gained momentum significantly and this was very important to demoralise Rayon Sport.
The only goal of the game, which was also the winning goal came late in the second half, scored by Eric Ngendahimana in the 84th minute.
Although Rayon Sports tried to push for an equalizer later on, the goal proved just enough for Police to be named the Peace Cup Champions for their first time in history.
Goalkeeper Emery Mvuyekure also played a crucial part by making crucial saves in some stages of the match, especially towards the final whistle.
Through this triumph, Police FC qualifies for the forthcoming Confederation of African Fotball Champions Cup (CAFCC), where it will represent Rwanda alongside other great African clubs.
