The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has postponed all matches involving the four clubs including Police FC, which took part in the just concluded Prudence tournament sponsored by Society for Family Health Rwanda (SFH).
In an interview with the Rwanda National Police Media, Chief Inspector of Police Jean de Dieu Mayira, spokesperson for Police FC confirmed that they received information from FERWAFA halting their Wednesday away match with Kiyovu, to a later date.
“We have received confirmation from FERWAFA that our match with Kiyovu has been postponed to a date that will be communicated soon, and our next match now will be against Sunrise on Sunday,” said CIP Mayira.
Other clubs whose matches have been postponed are APR, AS Kigali and Rayon Sports.
Police FC scooped Rwf2 million despite losing 2-1 to APR in the finals of the Prudence tournament.
Reacting on the current status and sluggish performance of the club, CIP Mayira noted that the team has had challenges this season especially after losing influential players just days before the start of the 2014/15 season, under the new rule of using majority local players in the club.
“The clubs was most affected up front…most players that were affected by this policy were strikers, but we have had to strive to contain the pressure with the few players we remained with,” he explained.
“Even now, we have some injuries like Idsebald Nshuti, who picked up injury in the finals of Prudence tournament against APR, and we are not sure when he will be back; but we will continue using the few we have, praying had that they also don’t pick serious injuries along the way.”
Police FC is now third on the log with 24 points in 14 matches played so far, eight behind table leaders, APR.
