Police officers joined hundreds of residents in Kicukiro District in the monthly community service ceremony known as Umuganda to clear land and protect the environment in Nyarugunga Sector, Rwimbogo Cell.
The officers were led by the Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana, who folded their sleeves alongside residents, youth and public officials to participate in the Umuganda ceremony, which is one of Rwanda’s widely acclaimed programs.
After the activity, IGP Gasana addressed the residents, and thanked them for adhering to such useful national programs, and also reminded them of their roles in contributing to the development of Rwanda.
“Let us always join hands in developing our country. By working together, we can solve each and every challenge we face and ensure that our vision of unity, peace and prosperity is reached,” he said.
In his address to the residents, Mayor of Kicukiro, Paul Jules Ndamage, commended Rwanda National Police for its work in maintaining law and order in the country, and also for participating in community programs that enable both the leaders and citizens to work together and discuss initiatives to the country’s development.
