Rwanda National Police (RNP) impounded five motorcycles whose drivers did not possess documents needed to transport passengers.
They were seized in separate locations in Kicukiro and Nyamasheke Districts on December 19 and 20 and are held impounded at Kicukiro and Kanjongo Police station pending further proceedings.
Chief Inspector of Police (CIP), Thomas Ruzindana, the District Police Commander (DPC), said the motorcyclists did not possess permits, insurance and documents authorizing them to transport passengers on commercial basis.
“All motorists must be in possession of all the required documents before they sue the road in order to safeguard their lives and the lives of other road users. Breaching road rules is a dangerous route to take and has repercussions on the traffic offender,” he said.
He also called upon the general public to report bad drivers who violate road rules and instructions.
