The record five-time national handball champions--Police--have continued to enjoy an impressive championship season.
The second round of the national championship kicked off this Saturday with the law enforcers traveling to Rubavu District to face College de Gisenyi.
The table leaders made no mistake.
Nine game-high goals from Police Constable Norbert Duteteriwacu, seven from Alexis Nshimiyimana and six strikes from Bizimana Haruna guided the 2018 Heroes Day and Genocide Memorial champions to a 43-25 win away in Gisenyi to stretch their unbeaten run to eleven matches and to continue to lead the eleven team table with 33 maximum points.
Having won the 2014, 2015 and 2016 championships, Police lost the trophy to APR on the final day of the 2017 league, when the two locked horns.
Police Handball coach, Dismas Turatsinze, said: "Our focus, which each player strives for, are three points from each match."
Under the new handball rules, a win counts three points while both a draw and loss account for a single point.
On Day twelve this Sunday, Police Handball Club will travel to Rwamagana District to face Groupe Scolaire St. Aloys.
