The National Handball League champions, Police have joined the camp early ahead of the East and Central African Handball tournament which starts on December 6 in Kigali.
The regional tournament which was last organized in 2004, also hosted by Rwanda, brings together big clubs from Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda and the hosts, Rwanda.
Rwanda will be represented by Police and APR.
Police coach, Assistant inspector of Police (AIP) Antoine Ntabanganyimana, said: “We have started serious training for players to know each other well. We have to prepare ourselves well to be title contenders.”
He added: “I have good players and we will be playing a good game, but our focus is to win. We have participated in regional tournaments and we will be going into this competition with rich experience, with enough support from Rwanda National Police.”
“We call upon all our fans and Rwandans in general to come in big number because supporters also constitute another player although off the pitch,” he noted.
The competition will be played between December 6 and 12 at University of Rwanda-College of Education (UR-CE) and at Kimisagara Youth Centre.
Police is the most successful local club having won all the seven local competitions in 2014, retaining six of them in the following 2015 season including third consecutive national league glory.
