Police Handball Club plans to conclude first round on a high note

Police Handball Club will seek to collect maximum points in the first round of the national league, with two games left to be played.

Police has dominated the league this year and currently sits on top of the table with 24 points from eight games played, as it sets to reclaim the title.

On Thursday June 4, Police will face off against the College of Art and Social Sciences in Huye, which currently lies in position 8.

Then on June 16, the club will compete for three more pints against the College of Education.

In their previous encounter on Sunday May 31, Norbert Duteteriwacu scored 13 times as the reigning champions claimed maximum points away in Gisenyi- Rubavu District by beating College Inyemeramihigo 45-30 to stay top of the national league table.

Fellow talisman Zachary Tuyishime also scored nine goals as the law enforcers registered maximum 24 points in eight matches played so far.

Although they are tied on same points with second placed APR, Police assistant coach, Sgt. Alphonse Udahemuka said they are confident their game in hand against University of Rwanda - College of Education will prove their worth as they aim to retain the national league glory.

"The way the team is prepared, the spirit of players and the support we have from the Rwanda National Police leadership gives us courage to do more," Udahemuka said.

"The national league is ours to lose. We won it last season along other six cups; the main focus is to retain all these trophies. We have so far defended the Genocide Memorial and Labor Day cups and we hope to continue the rhythm."

On top of a complete masterpiece showing last year, Police Handball Club has already lifted trophies in January, February and May this year.
