Police Handball Club ease past Rambura to cement top spot

Police thrashed bottom-placed Groupe Scolaire Rambura in their second game of the second round, in a victory that cemented the champions at the top of the national handball league ahead of their archrivals APR.

The game ended in favor of Police with 53 goals, against 15 for Rambura, whereas Police player Jean Paul Mpawenayo scored the highest goals in the game with 16 goals.

Police are now on 36 points while APR has 33 points in second place.

In an interview, Police head coach Antoine Ntibanganya praised his players for having utmost focus and hunger to win the title, despite the intense pressure from their close rivals APR.

“The players have won a lot in the past, but they still show that they want to win more. All of them are very devoted to the cause and understand that there is no room for laxity, since APR is also winning at a very impressive rate,” he said.

“They listen to the advice and adhere to the training modules all the time. It is a pleasure to have such a group of young and talented players because they are determined to push on and win at all costs.”
