Police Handball Club crowned 'Rwanda Cup' champions

Police Handball Club added their third trophy in the cabin this season after winning Rwanda Cup on Sunday.

The 2019 National Handball League and Heroes Day Cup
champions overcame three other participants to be crowned winners.

Other teams that participated in the tournament are Nyakabanda HC, Blue Tigers HC and College de Gisenyi (Inyemeramihigo).

The record seven-time national champions beat Nyakabanda 23-12, College de Gisenyi 29-24, and Blue Tigers 35-16 to win Rwanda Cup.
 
Police Handball Club coach, Inspector of Police (IP) Antoine Ntabanganyimana thanked the "focus and teamwork" of his players throughout the tournament.

"Everyone is happy for winning this tournament, it was also an opportunity in preparation of other regional and continental tournaments of which we will be part," IP Ntabanganyimana said.

Police Handball Club will participate in the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) games to be played in Nairobi, Kenya between August 25 and September 2.

It will also represent Rwanda in Africa handball champions League in Cape Verde come October, and take part in the Eastern Africa and Central Africa Handball Federations Cup (ECAHF) which will be played in December in Kigali.

Since it was founded in 2002, Police Handball Club has won 44 cups, including seven national league championships.
