Police Handball Club continues quest to retain national league trophy

The Police Handball Club quest to retain the national league cup continued on Sunday when they thrashed Nyakabanda 38-19 in a match played at Kimisagara Youth Centre to stay top of the log with 21 maximum points.

Coach AIP Antoine Ntabanganyimana believes his side has what it takes to be crowned champions for the second consecutive year.

He said: "Our target is to win each and every game. That way, we will be sure of repeating what we did last season."

Police lost only one match to lift their third national league trophy in for seasons.

"But again our performance is attributed to the institution - Rwanda National Police - leadership that supports us, enough preparations and training and of course, teamwork and team spirit."

"We have only three matches left before return legs. We beat all clubs including our closest and major challengers like APR and Gicumbi and it's every player's focus to get maximum points from all our opponents in return legs."

APR lies second on the table with 20 points.

The law enforcers have so far won three trophies this season. They are the Labour Day Cup, Impano n’Impamba and the Heroes Day Tournament trophy they won in January, February and May this year, respectively.
