Reigning Champions Police Handball Club has started intensified preparations ahead of the new 2015 season.
The team, which has been training since Monday, is keen to build from last year’s unprecedented success when it won seven trophies that included; the National League, Liberation, Genocide Commemoration, Labour Day, Sulfo Beach, Carre d’AS and Rwanda Cup.
The upcoming busy season, which includes the national league campaign, six local tournaments and two regional and continental competitions, starts early in February with the National Heroes tournament.
Speaking to media, Police handball coach Antoine Ntabanganyimana said the team was keen on replicating last season’s success.
“Our major target is to replicate last season’s form. That is why we started training early. I have challenged my players to do more in regional and continental engagements because that is why we performed poorly last season,” Ntabanganyimana said.
Police Handball Club has proved a handful for other clubs by dominating most tournaments, particularly last year where the club scooped all the seven tournaments that were held.
Since its founding in 2003, Police Handball Club staffed its trophy cabinet with 22 trophies, among which include three national league cups, four Heroes Day Tournament, four Liberation Day cups and three Carré d’ AS cup.
Sporting activities are one means through which the force uses to engage the public in community policing and crime prevention in particular, and promoting sports development in the country.
