Rwanda National Police Hand Ball Club, has won the Beach Hand Ball competition to add yet more silverware to its rich trophies cabinet.
This season alone, the giant club has won six trophies including National League Cup, Memorial and Liberation cups, Labour Day, Carré d’ AS and Beach Hand Ball cup.
The Beach handball tournament which took place in Rubavu District over the weekend was graced by six teams including; UR College of Business and Economics, Kigoma Secondary School, Stella HBC, UR College of Education, Vision Jeunesse and tournament winner Police Hand Ball Club.
The Police side which registered an unbeatable record in the five games played, grabbed all the 2 points over Stella HBC in the final match.
Addressing the press shortly after the game, Assistant Inspector of Police Antoine Ntabanganyimana, the PHBC senior coach, said he was pleased to win the Beach Hand Ball trophy and congratulated the athletes over their triumph .
“My players managed to wonderfully control the whole game, they put a stunning show, I am so happy,” said Ntabanganyimana.
He added that the tournament was an opportunity for the team to make preparation for the upcoming Eastern and Central Africa handball tournament slated for early December in Nairobi, Kenya.
The tournament will bring together champions from Eastern and Central African countries.
