Police gives heifer to vulnerable survivors

The Rwanda National Police has donated two cows to two vulnerable families in Musanze district as the force’s support to the government poverty eradication programmes.

The heifer was handed to the beneficiaries on June 11 during the RNP ongoing activities to mark its 14th anniversary and 20th liberation celebrations held in Muhoza sector of Musanze.

The beneficiaries are Anonciatte Mukamugema, a genocide survivor and Eric Rusigariye.  

Other RNP donations include a motorcycle given to a local musician, Juvenal Ndagijimana for composing community policing songs, 500 insurance cards given to 100 families and Rwf400, 000 awarded to a cultural troop – Uruhongore and Judith Mukamusoni, who composed a song and poem respectively that promote the force’s proactive policing programmes.

Ndagijimana thanked Rwanda National Police for being a people’s force and for supporting poor families.

The Minister of Internal security, Sheikh Musa Fazil Harelimana, who presided over the exercise, commended the people of the Northern Province for cooperating with RNP to combat security threats in the region.

He urged them to embrace government development programmes like Gir’Inka, subscribe to public medical insurance scheme and fight those who try to involve them in illegal and subversive activities.

The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana also thanked them for their continued cooperation in ensuring security in the region.

The partnership, IGP said, led to the arrest of people who were involved in various criminal acts in the region.

“Strive to ensure that nothing can hold you back or stop you from taking another step by supporting community development initiatives,” the IGP said.

Aime Bosenibamwe, Governor of the Northern Province also lauded the RNP for support poverty eradication donations to the families and urged beneficiaries to use them to support and develop their families.
