Police football club beat Etincelles 1-0 away in Rubavu to stay focused to remain in top three, despite losing major players at the start of the national league season following a decision by the national football body, FERWAFA for clubs to use majority nationals.
The win increased Police's tally to 42 points, two behind second placed AS Kigali in 24 matches played so far and with just two games left to the end of the season.
Police FC could however claim the second place should they win their two remaining matches, but play that AS Kigali loses at least one match.
Etincelles came into the game seeking a win as it strives to get out of the relegation zone, as it currently seats on the 19th place on the table.
Their loss, however looked a blessing for Musanze FC who are four points off the relegation zone.
Should the law enforcers win one of their two remaining matches, it will automatically settle in the third place.
However, a draw could also seal their third place since, the way it looks, the fourth placed Rayon Sports, who are five points behind, would require a miracle to score more than ten goals claim the third place.
