Police FC emerged second in the Prudence Cup Tournament and walked away with a prize of Rwf2 million.
The Police side proved the most resilient club in the two-day tornament, although it eventually lost out in the final to National League champions, APR FC, which walked away with the trophy and Rwf3 million.
The final which attracted a mammoth crowd at Amahoro Stadium ended 2:1 in favor of APR FC, which was gifted with two early on the second half, before Police skipper Jacques Tuyisenge scored a consolation free kick.
“We triumphed and managed to finish second in a competition that had four good sides. All credit to the players who gave their all in a demanding period of two days. Our ambition is to win and we shall make sure we win,” Police FC head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo said.
The tournament was organized by Society for Family Health (SFH) Rwanda in partnership with the Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) involving last season’s top four clubs; Police, APR, Rayon Sports and AS Kigali.
The NGO injected Rwf11.5 million in the football tournament meant to popularise the use of condoms, particularly the Prudence brand, in the fight against HIV/Aids.
