A hard earned draw against Mukura has pushed Police FC to within two points of the second position in the National League, as the race for the title gathers more steam.
The game was played in Muhanga in the afternoon of March 17 – and although Police had the best chances, it failed to penetrate Mukura, whose defenders were always alert.
Police FC head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo, said that although he would have preferred to tak all the three points, a draw was good enough and maintains momentum for a club that has recenty been the most on-form in the league.
The draw takes Police to 33 points in third place, while AS Kigali in second has 35 and APR in first position has 40 points.
“We did not win but we played well; the outcome was encouraging. My players dominated the game but failed to finish off Mukura. We shall concentrate on winning the next game and make sure until we give joy to our supporters,” Police FC head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo, said after the triumph.
“We have a squad that is capable of being the best in the country.”
Recently on February 10, Police FC emerged second in the Prudence Cup Tournament and walked away with a prize of Rwf2 million.
The Police side proved the most resilient club in the two-day tournament, although it eventually lost out in the final to National League champions, APR FC, which walked away with the trophy and Rwf3 million.
