The Rwanda National Police Football Club will not play its match against Sunrise on Sunday as it was scheduled, following the death of the latter’s technical director and acting coach, Jean Marie Ntagwabira, who succumbed to lung failure last Monday, the national football federation (FERWAFA) has announced.

Chief Inspector Jean de Dieu Mayira, the spokesperson for Police FC disclosed that they received a letter from FERWAFA halting the match, their second to be postponed in one week, as the Sunrise players and management are still commemorating the shocking death of former APR, Kiyovu, Rayon Sports and Amavubi coach, Jean Marie Ntagwabira, who passed away aged 41 at Kanombe military hospital where he was admitted three weeks ago.

Police FC, which lies third on the national league table with 24 points in 14 matches, now has two games in hand following the postponement of their other match with Kiyovu in mid-week.

“We are yet to receive confirmation on the dates when the two games in hand will be played,” CIP Mayira said.
