Police Football Club maintained its unbeaten run in the Azam Rwanda Premier League to three matches after coming from behind to force a 1-all draw against defending champions, APR at Kicukiro artificial turf on Friday.
Striker, Isae Isonga scored the hard earned goal in the 70th minute to cancel Jean Claude Iranzi's early goal scored in the 14th minute into the match.
Police FC overturned the game in the second half with Coach Andre Cassa Mbugo seemingly adopting the attacking option.
Isonga and captain Jacques Tuyisenge kept APR defenders at bay through the second 45 minutes.
With APR taking the defensive side to protect their lead, it gave the law enforcers a better option - to attack.
A poor clearance and miscommunication in the APR defence was a heaven sent chance for Isonga to level the score about 20 minutes to the end of the match.
There were other squandered chances that would have seen Police score more goals. Jacques Tuyisenge's thunderbolt also went wide.
Police Coach Cassa Mbugo praised his side for the comeback to stretch the record against the military side.
"We didn't start well, our opponents got goal an early goal but it didn't break our back. We came back strong in the second half, continued to attack and it paid off," said Cassa.
He added: "I must say players played well today compared to previous games. You could see they really wanted goals."
This is the fourth straight unbeaten record against APR. Police eliminated the military side out of the Peace Cup and Agaciro Development Fund in the semis and quarter finals respectively. Police FC won both Peace and Agaciro cups.
