The Rwanda National Police Football Club announced it has acquired a legal status from to officially operate as a legally recognized soccer club in the country.
The club spokesperson Chief Inspector Jean de Dieu Mayira disclosed the new development.
“Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) approved the Police FC statute last month; it means that the club now has all the requirements and it will help much in building the team and promoting football in the country,” CIP Mayira said.
CIP Mayira also disclosed that the club has bolstered its squad with the two more signings.
The new players are winger Innocent Twagirimana from second division club, Esperance and striker Jean Paul Niyonzima signed from AS Kigali.
“Both Twagirimana and Niyonzima were signed before the closing of the shopping window, prior to the start new season as rules state, after players and clubs reached an understanding,” he said.
The 2014/2015 national league season started on October 18 and Police FC registered a 1-0 win against Gicumbi in its opening match played on October 19, away in the Northern Province.
“The coaching staff will now embark on preparing the available players to know each other on pitch,” he added.
The club has now signed six players in total. Others are defender Muhamed Mpozembizi from Musanze FC, striker Idisbaridi Nshuti from Mukura and midfielders Rashid Karisa and Vincent Habamahoro from Sec Academy and Gicumbi FC respectively.
