Police down APR in handball league

Isonga 1-2 Police FC

Police HBC 17-14 APR

PoliceHandball Club proved a tough team to beat, more so to snatch a trophy from as they beat their closest competitor, APR, 17-14 to register maximum points in three matches played so far, to create a two-point margin between the two clubs on the table.

It was a tough, but entertaining match played on April 4 at KimisagaraYouth Centre as just a point in favour of Police HBC separated the two top clubs before break as it ended 8-7.

The second half looked unpredictable as to who would actually make a point-margin lead on the top spot as the two clubs were tied at six maximum points each, before the start of the match, as they were separated by just goals, but again in favor of Police.

It was, however, another morning for the reigning champions. 9 more goals in the second half made sure that Police HBC settled at the summit with nine maximum points, a thing the head couch AIP Antoinne Ntabanganyimana, believes is the starting point to claim their third league title in just four seasons.

Zachary Tuyishime and Gilbert Mutuyimana scored 4 goals each as the match high individual score while Baptiste Habimana netted thrice to guide Police to a hard fought win.

"It was a tough but entertaining game because when you look at the league standings, these  are two big clubs. Having beaten our closest challenger means a lot to us. We have created a two point margin, but this is just our third match of the season. We need to display the same wining spirit in all other games if we have to retain the trophy, and that's our target," said Ntabanganyimana.

Police FC win

The second half double substitution of Innocent Twagirimana and Jean Marie Vianney Twagiramungu, became a good gamble for Coach Andre Cassa Mbugo as they scored a piece each in just a space of four minutes.

Twagirimana, who came in for Tumayine put the law enforcers in the lead in the 58th minute before Twagiramungu doubled the lead four minutes later in a match played at FERWAFA playground in Remera.

Isonga's consolation came in the 75th minute through Dany Usengimana's, although it wasn't enough from stopping Police FC from a deserved away win to increase it's tally to 33 points and third on the log.
