School going children are among the majority road users... rushing to school everyday and going back home.
These youngsters and future leaders, who use roads everyday, find themselves at the risk of road crashes, either due to their reckless road usage or dangerous motorists.
Last month alone, 13 accidents involving students were recorded across the country.
To curb road carnage and to save lives, therefore, requires efficient measures, including implementing a road user education campaign.
Whereas road traffic is an critical aspect of development, it is also a major public health concern, which requires all road users to have the knowledge, attitude, and practice toward road safety regulations.

Last Friday, October 21, Rwanda National Police (RNP) extended the road safety education to various schools in different parts of the country.
The schools include Ecole Secondaire Kayonza, Heritage Parents Academy in Gatsibo District, Ecole Primaire Kibogora in Nyamasheke District and Groupe Scolaire Nyagatare.
Students and their teachers were enlightened on traffic rules and regulations such as safer ways of crossing the road; using Zebra Crossing, looking both sides of the road before crossing, walking on the left side of the road facing oncoming traffic and refraining from the dangerous behaviors of holding onto moving vehicles.
As students get acquainted with road safety standards, it is equally paramount for motorists to maximumly observe the traffic rules and regulations by doing away with speeding, driving while drunk or under the influence of drugs; using a phone while driving; reckless maneuvers especially in hot spots; violating Zebra Crossing, and other traffic control signposts.
Be safe. Use the road safely to prevent accidents, loss of lives and destruction of property.
