Police begin registration for driving exams

The Rwanda National Road Safety and Traffic Police Department has begun registering those interested in taking driving tests.

Traffic Police Spokesperson Superintendent (SP) JMV Ndushabandi said registration is done in two categories.

Those registering and taking the tests now are individuals from driving schools (autos ecoles) and later independent candidates will be registered and sit for the tests as well.

The first category began on the tests on October 7 in Kigali City and will stretch across the country until October 30, 2013.

The second category, which is independent individuals, have also began registering. Registration will end on October 23, 2013 and tests will begin on November 4, 2013 and end on the 8th.

Below is the schedule according to provinces.

Northern Province plus Nyabihu and Rubavu Districts will begin on 11th and end on 14th November.

Sothern Province will sit from 18th to 21st November.

Eastern Province, that is; Ngororero, Karongi, Rutsiro, Nyamasheke and Rusizi will begin on 25th and end on 28th November.

Notably though, foreigners, SP Ndushabandi said, will be allowed to sit for the tests.

Any foreigner interested in sitting for the test should get more details from any nearby Police Station and for those in Kigali City; they should go to the Metropolitan Police Office in Muhima.

Police warns anyone tempting fraudulent acts such as sitting exams for a third party is an offense and those caught will be heavily punished.
