Police arrests motorcycle robber

Police in Gatsibo district has arrested one Andrew Tumusime suspected of stealing a motorcycle UEB 673K from Uganda.

He was arrested on Sunday, around 9:00PM, in Kiziguro Sector after failing to provide the certificates showing he owned the motorcycle. A colleague he was carrying ran away.

Tumusime is held at Kabarore Police Station pending further investigation.
Police later on discovered the suspect is a Burundian National, under the names of Dieudonné Nteziryayo. He lives in Gikagati Refugee Camp in Uganda. Andrew Tumusime is a forged name.

He told Police the man who ran away had promised to give him Rwf 200,000 if he rode the stolen motorcycle up to Kayonza District, where he would sell it.
The man had given him Rwf100, 000 in advance. They sneaked into Rwanda through a porous path near Kagitumba border.

Eastern Province Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Jean Marie Njangwe, said the two men are suspected of stealing the motorcycle.

He said Police has contacted the Ugandan counterparts to identify the owner of the motorcycle.

Tumusime could be charged with several crimes including theft and illegal entry into Rwanda.
