Following investigations into the heinous murder act of a mother and her five children in Ruhango district on August 1, Police has arrested the main suspect.

Steven Baribwirumuhungu was apprehended on August 15 in Kanyana cell, Sovu sector of Ngororero district.

He is currently detained at Ruhango Police station as investigations continue.

Preliminary investigations indicate that he committed the inhuman act after escaping from Mpanga prison.

Investigations further indicate that Baribwirumuhungu, who was also posing as Etienne Habumugisha had a misunderstanding with one  Sylvestre Ngayaberura, the husband and father of the victims whom they were serving a prison sentence together at Mpanga.

Investigations are still ongoing to bring to justice all those that could be connected to this murder.

The general public are also urged to continue their partnership in these investigations to ensure that justice is served.
