The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Police Week activities continued on Thursday in Ngororero, Kamonyi and Kicukiro districts where 326 households were connected with solar energy.
Ngororero
A total of 122 houses of Rubindi Village in Sovu Sector in Ngororero were also connected with solar home systems.

Minister Vincent Biruta addressed the residents on development, crime prevention including fighting illegal mining, cutting of trees, wild fires and burning waste in gardens.
While speaking in Ngororero, the Minister of Natural Resource, Dr. Vincent Biruta reminded thousands of residents who had gathered in Rubindi Village of Musenyi in Sovu that their contribution to community policing is paramount and urged them to keep up the momentum.

He emphasized the need to protect the environment singling out illegal and substandard mining, cutting of trees, wild fire and burning of waste in gardens as some of environmental degradation and unlawful acts that should be fought by reporting those involved to police.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda and the Governor of the Western Province Alphonse Munyantwari also attended the event in Ngororero, where activities included Umuganda to rehabilitate feeder roads.
Kamonyi
A total of 120 homes in Nyagihamba Village in Kambyeyi Cell, Nyarubaka sector, and Nyagihamba Health Center were connected with solar energy.

The Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Esperance Nyirasafari while speaking in Kamonyi: “Rwandan has a right to live, to safety safely and that several measures adopted by Police like establishment of anti-narcotics directorate, anti-GBV Unit, Isange One Stop Center, Community Policing Committees and several others are all in the interest of building a safer society and ensuring that people's rights are protected and promoted.”

Thousands of residents and students took part in Police Week community development activities.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Emmanuel K. Gasana, said: “Through partnership with citizens, Rwanda achieved a lot including effective policing. Today, all Rwandan are living safely and our country is well protected. That spirit of community policing should rather continue to thrive.”
Kicukiro
Rwanda National Police connected 84 houses in Cyeru Village in Rusheshe Cell of Masaka Sector in Kicukiro District, with solar energy.

The vice mayor of the City of Kigali in charge of Economic and Development, Parfait Busabizwa said that solar energy will contribute to the ongoing security and hygiene campaign conducted by RNP and City of Kigali.

The Central Region Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rogers Rutikanga said that Cyeru is one of the places in the City of Kigali with rare crimes, and urged residents to always work together in activities of security and development.
